Installation & Getting Started
You’re in the right place. Install Life on Track on your device, enter the license key from your purchase email, and create your first backup. You will be up and running in minutes.
Install Life on Track on your device.
There is nothing to buy from an app store, and your file stays on your device, not with us.
Install it before you add anything private.
After you buy on the pricing page, your purchase email has your license key and the app link. Open that link on the device you plan to use and follow the step for that device below. Then open Life on Track from its installed icon and enter your key.
Your license activates Life on Track on up to 3 devices, never expires, and you can deactivate a device yourself anytime from inside the app. Devices do not sync automatically; move your information when you choose, using your backup file.
iPhone or iPad
Open the app link in Safari, tap the Share button (the square with an up arrow), then choose Add to Home Screen, make sure Open as Web App is turned on, and tap Add. Open Life on Track from that new icon and carry on from there.
Mac
Open the app link in Safari, click the Share button (the square with an up arrow), choose Add to Dock, then Add. (File → Add to Dock works too.) Open Life on Track from the Dock icon and carry on from there.
Windows computer
Chrome: Choose the install icon in the address bar. If it is not shown, open ⋮ → Cast, save, and share → Install page as app.
Edge: Choose App available in the address bar. If it is not shown, open … → Apps → Install this site as an app.
Confirm Install, then open Life on Track from its installed icon. The first time it opens, choose Create My Life on Track File, pick Documents in the Save window, keep the name Life on Track.lot, and choose Save. Keep the file where you saved it.
Android phone or tablet
Open the link in the full Chrome app — not Samsung Internet, and not from inside an email or another app. Use the Install Life on Track button on the page. If the button is not shown, see Android help on the Support page.
The first time it opens, choose Set Up Automatic Saving. In Android Files, open Documents, then tap Use this folder and Allow. Life on Track creates or reopens its folder inside Documents for you.
Start small with Setup Guides.
After you enter your key, choose Start Guided Setup (eleven short steps, and only your name is needed) or Explore on my own. Emergency Ready Setup, Home & Access Setup, and Records & Bills Setup wait in Setup Guides, at your pace.

Add what you know, one step at a time. Leave other details for later.
Build a useful starting point for yourself and someone you love who may need to step in. A little progress can make tomorrow feel more manageable.

You don’t need to do everything at once. Start here and you’ll already have something your family could use.
Add your key people
Spouse or partner, adult children, a trusted neighbor, and your main doctor. Just names and phone numbers to start.
Fill in the Emergency Info
Who to call first and what to do, critical medical or safety notes, and where medications are kept.
Map where your papers are kept
Record where the originals are kept. You can also note a digital copy’s location or attach a copy on this device. Attached copies are included in your Backup Copy; shared handoffs include document names and locations, not attached files.
Create your backup
Open Review & Backup in the top toolbar and choose Create New Backup. Keep it on a USB drive, your own cloud, or with someone you trust. Your file lives on your device, not our servers, so if the device is lost or damaged, or the installed app is deleted, Life on Track cannot recover it for you. To move to a new device, install Life on Track there, then choose Restore From Backup.
Adding an add-on later
Each purchase gives you its own license key by email. If you buy an add-on after your first purchase, open Life on Track and enter the new key in Settings → Access & Add-ons, or on that add-on’s page. Keys combine automatically. Bought Additional Households & Caregivers or the Complete Family Bundle? Select your household’s name at the top of the sidebar and choose Add another household to add a separate household for a parent, relative, or loved one you help. You can manage five households in total, each with its own records, printouts and handoffs.
How updates work
When an update is ready, Life on Track shows a banner. Choose Refresh Now, or Later — keep using this version, and update any time from Settings → Updates → Check for Updates. Updates do not give Life on Track access to your private household file.
