Before you buy
Can I see it before I buy?
Yes. Explore the Interactive Sample, a read-only look at Life on Track with fictional family information. It includes Toolkit features and optional add-ons, and nothing you click in it is saved. There is also a free 5-Minute Family Readiness Check you can print, as a simple starting point for the information your family would need first. You enter your email address to download it, and it is used only for occasional Life on Track news.
Is this only for emergencies, or will I actually use it?
It does two jobs. Most of the time you open it yourself — the renewal you meant to check, the alarm instructions and the dog’s routine for a sitter, the school form that wants the same details every August. Then there is the day someone else opens it and finds who to call, what matters medically, and where things are kept. Recorded once, useful both ways.
What do I see when I open Life on Track?
Home opens on one calm three-step path — Start, Protect, Share — and highlights only the step it suggests next. Start is adding the people, instructions and document locations you already know. Protect is creating a Backup Copy and keeping it somewhere safe. Share is preparing a Trusted Person Packet, and whether you ever share it is your choice. Twice a year, Home also shows a reminder to review and update each household; it is an on-screen prompt, not a notification. Go at your own pace — you can stop and return whenever you are ready.
Which should I choose — the Toolkit or the Bundle?
The Family Readiness Toolkit ($149) covers emergency readiness and household organization, and is the whole product for most families. The Complete Family Bundle ($249) is the Toolkit plus all three add-ons: Additional Households & Caregivers, Final Wishes & Legacy Planning, and Digital Estate. Bought separately those come to $316, so the Bundle saves $67 — about 21%. You can start with the Toolkit and add later.
I’m helping a parent. What should I buy?
Get the Family Readiness Toolkit ($149) and add Additional Households & Caregivers ($79). Together they let you manage five households in total, such as yours and your parent’s. Each one keeps its own care team, medications, routine, documents, emergency contacts and handoff, separate from yours, and you switch between them in the same Life on Track. If you’d also like Final Wishes & Legacy Planning and Digital Estate, the Complete Family Bundle ($249) includes all three add-ons.
Why not just use a binder, a shared document, or a password manager?
You can, and some families do. The difficulty is keeping it current and handing it over. A password manager stores secrets and a shared document stores files — neither one tells your family who to call, where to go, what to find, and what to do first. Life on Track gives you a guided structure, emergency-first summaries, printable sheets, and a read-only handoff for someone you trust.
Is this a legal or medical service?
No. Life on Track helps you organize information and point to the documents that matter. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, tax or estate-planning advice, and it is not a will, trust, power of attorney or advance directive. For those decisions, speak with a qualified professional.
Is there a subscription, and can I get a refund?
No subscription — every Life on Track purchase is one-time. The Toolkit is $149 once, the Bundle $249 once, and your license never expires. Every purchase includes a 14-day money-back guarantee: if it is not right for your family, for any reason, email us within 14 days for a full refund. I’ve never done anything like this — where do I start?
Most families haven’t. Guided Setup walks you through it one small step at a time, and is designed to get you to a printable Emergency Sheet in about 20 minutes. Start with who to call and your medical basics, then add the rest whenever you like. Your file saves as you go and there is no deadline — a partly filled file is already more than your family had yesterday.

What is in the Family Readiness Toolkit?
Your private family file, in three clear groups: People & Contacts (household & family, trusted helpers, school & activities, professionals), Home & Property (homes, access & safety, utilities, vehicles, pets, maintenance) and Money & Records (accounts, bills & services, insurance, documents, dates). Link a document to the insurance policy, will, home or professional it belongs to, and where it is kept shows up everywhere it is needed. On top of the three groups sit Emergency Info, Hospital Plan, Disaster Plan, the Trusted Person Plan, If You’re Reading This, Setup Guides (including Guided Setup), Print & Share, and Review & Backup. How does the trusted-person handoff work?
You choose someone — a spouse, an adult child, a sibling, a close friend — and Life on Track prepares a calm, read-only copy for them. You give them the file and it opens on its own, with nothing to buy, install or sign up for. This Offline Handoff File comes with the Toolkit and covers who to call first, medical must-knows, where the important papers are, and what you would want done. Letters for the People I Love come with the Final Wishes & Legacy Planning add-on. You can password-protect the digital handoff; give the password separately. Does a handoff update itself when I change something?
No. A handoff is a copy of your information on the day you prepared it. After important changes, prepare a fresh one and replace the old copy.
What do Final Wishes & Legacy Planning and Digital Estate cover?
Final Wishes & Legacy Planning ($49) brings together what you would want if you could not say so yourself, where the signed papers are kept, the people to notify and the first actions they may need to take, and private letters, plus Personal Notes you can write or record as a voice message, all kept in your file until you choose to share them. Voice recordings are not printed or put in the Offline Handoff File. Digital Estate ($39) is a working handoff for online accounts, devices, recovery steps, subscriptions and legacy access, with a Digital Estate Summary, Legacy Access Checklist, Subscriptions to Cancel and Devices. Neither is a legal document, and neither is a password manager: they record where things are kept, not the passwords themselves.
Can I buy an add-on on its own?
You can buy any add-on separately, but every add-on works inside the Family Readiness Toolkit ($149), so you need the Toolkit first. Each add-on unlocks only that add-on. From there you can add Additional Households & Caregivers ($79), Final Wishes & Legacy Planning ($49) or Digital Estate ($39) whenever you are ready. An add-on bought separately comes with its own license key; the Complete Family Bundle ($249) includes all three on one key.
Can I give Life on Track as a gift?
Yes, and it makes a thoughtful one — for a parent, a grown child, or a friend starting a new chapter. Buy the Toolkit or the Bundle in your own name and the purchase email with the license key arrives in your inbox. Pass the key along in a card, or sit down together and build it out over a cup of coffee. There is a free printable gift card on the pricing page, with a place for your note and their key.
Privacy & your file
Where is my information stored? Do I need an account?
On your own device, inside the copy of Life on Track you install — and no, there is no account. Your household details, medical notes, documents, care instructions and final wishes are not stored on our servers, so we cannot see them and there is no username or password for us to lose. You control your own backup, and where it is kept is your choice.
What should I put in it — and what should I leave out?
Record the everyday details that keep your household running, where important papers are kept, and where trusted access instructions can be found. Account numbers are optional: full or last 4 — your choice. They are hidden on screen until you choose Show. Handoffs show only the last 4 by default; including a full account number requires your deliberate choice and password protection for that handoff. Never record account passwords or PINs. Note where your password manager or access instructions are kept, and review each copy before sharing it.
What would happen if Life on Track ever went away?
An already installed and activated copy can continue to work offline. Your information stays on your device, and prepared digital handoffs and printed copies remain readable. Installing or activating Life on Track on a new device still depends on the setup and license services being available, so keep a readable handoff as well as a backup.

Do I have to install it, and why?
Yes, and it takes about a minute. Life on Track installs straight from our website — no App Store, no account. Use Safari on an iPhone, iPad or Mac, Chrome or Edge on Windows, or Chrome on Android. Afterwards it opens from an icon like any other app. Installing comes first so your file has a proper home on your device. The Installation & Getting Started page shows how, step by step.
What do I get right after I buy?
A purchase email with your license key and step-by-step instructions. Install Life on Track, enter your key, and follow the setup instructions for your device. This includes your Life on Track file on Windows, or your Life on Track folder on Android. Each purchase gets its own key — if you buy the Toolkit now and an add-on later, enter both keys and they combine automatically, with nothing lost and no reinstalling. If the email has not arrived within a few minutes, check your spam folder or email us.
How do updates work, and will I ever pay again?
When an update is ready, Life on Track shows a banner. Choose Refresh Now, or Later — keep using this version, and update any time from Settings → Updates → Check for Updates. Nothing is pushed into your file automatically, and updates don’t give us access to it. Before you update, create a fresh Backup Copy (Review & Backup → Create New Backup). Fixes, improvements and new versions are included at no extra cost, and your information comes with you. New add-ons released later may have a separate fee.
Backups, devices & printing
How many devices can I use it on, and does it sync?
Your license activates Life on Track on up to 3 devices — for example your computer, phone and tablet — and never expires. You can deactivate a device yourself anytime. Devices do not sync, and that is deliberate: syncing would mean your household information traveling over the internet, and Life on Track doesn’t send it anywhere on its own. Each device keeps its own copy; to bring another one up to date, make a Backup Copy on one and restore it on the other.
My spouse and I both want it on our phones. Does that work?
Yes. One license covers up to 3 devices, and they can be different kinds — an iPhone and an Android phone, for example. Your copies don’t update each other automatically, so choose one device as the main one for making changes. Now and then, make a fresh Backup Copy there (Review & Backup → Create New Backup) and restore it on the other device.
Why does a backup matter, and how do I make one?
Because your file lives only on your device, a backup is the copy that covers a lost or damaged device or a move to a new one — and it is the only way your file can be recovered, since we don’t hold it. Open Review & Backup in the top toolbar and choose Create New Backup, then keep the file somewhere you trust: your own cloud drive, a USB drive, or with someone close to you. The Backup Confidence Check in the same menu helps you confirm that a recent backup exists and that your family knows where it is.
How do I move to a new phone or computer?
On your current device, open Review & Backup and choose Create New Backup. Move that file across, install Life on Track on the new device first, then open it and choose Restore From Backup. Your file moves with you, not through our servers. One habit keeps it simple: pick one device as your main editing device, make changes there, and restore a fresh backup on the others before editing.
Can I print my information?
Yes. Print & Share gives you a printable Emergency Sheet, an Emergency Summary, a Doctor Visit Summary, Accounts and Insurance Summaries, and the Trusted Person Packet, formatted to read clearly on paper — for the fridge, a go-bag, or someone’s hand. A good habit is to print the one-page Emergency Sheet rather than your whole file: it is the most useful on paper and keeps the rest private. Store any printout the way you would any important document.
